Hingvastak churna is an ancient Ayurvedic remedy used for increasing digestion and relieving disturbances in the gut. This Vata-reducing digestive aid will decrease unwanted symptoms such as gas, bloating, cramping, belching, hiccups, gurgling, pain in the abdomen and constipation. Hingvastak is used as a digestive enzyme due to its ability to enhance digestion, increase absorption of nutrients and burn away toxins.

Contraindications: Hingvastak should be avoided during pregnancy and avoided for those with high Pitta or excessive heat in the body.
Directions: Add 1-2 tsp. of Hingvastak to any dish, preferably during the cooking process. It is most recommended to sauté this spice mixture in ghee or oil before adding to a dish, as this will enhance the flavor. The amount needed will vary depending on the size of the dish and the pallet of the individual. Play around with a smaller amount to begin (1 tsp) and add more as desired.
Alternatively, Hingvastak can be taken mixed in honey, 30 minutes before each meal. For this method, take 1/2 tsp of Hingvastak and mix with 1-2 tsp of honey. Wash down with warm water.
