General Directions

  1. If time permits, soak the dal in warm water for 6 to 24 hours prior to cooking.  If time does not permit rinse the beans well before cooking.
  2. Boil three cups of water for every one cup of dal.  Once boiling, add in the dal and cook, mostly covered, over medium heat for 25 to 30 minutes.  Stir well every 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. The dal is done when the beans are very soft and have lost their form.
  4. For better flavor and health benefits add in spices, ghee, oil, vegetables, basmati rice, quinoa, or grains as desired.

This can’t be beat. Gorgeous Mung Dal and cooks up beautifully. Three recipes were included in my order as well as a sample of Agni Churna, an ingredient in one of the recipes. What a nice surprise! I made the Breakfast Kitchari recipe this morning and it was heaven. Fast shipping and great company to do business with. Give this a try – you won’t be sorry.

In case no stars show up on my first review, this gets 5 stars because that’s as high as it goes.
