28 Days to a Healthier Digestion Challenge: Week Two

Welcome to week two of our Healthy Digestion Challenge!  This week we will continue on with the recommendations from week one while bringing our focus to a few new challenges.  By making these changes to our diet and lifestyle over this 28 day period, we are hoping to shed light on where our dietary struggles lie (say giving up all white sugar), bring awareness to all of the (hidden) ingredients that are in our foods, and finally give our digestions a much needed break in order to rekindle our fire, flush away toxins and reestablish sustainable energy and health.  Continue reading »

28 Days to a Healthier Digestion Challenge: Week One

According to Ayurveda, a healthy digestive fire (Agni) is the key to our entire health and well-being.  Alternatively, the root cause of toxins and disease is improper digestion.  I am a firm believer in this theory and have indeed seen it first hand throughout my practice.  The causes and symptoms of each individual’s digestive issues may vary, but the one thing we know for certain is that the digestive force must be restored in order to prevent and/or treat any disorder.  Continue reading »

Spicy Springtime Kale Chips Recipe

KaleChipRecipe2With Spring fever in the air and unseasonably warm weather here in Boulder, my taste buds are craving a bit more variety from my usual warm, mushy Vata-pacifying meals.  Although this recipe is best for Kapha, these kale chips are actually fairly balanced and quite hearty, as they have a delicious topping of creamy sunflower seeds to give some added protein, sunflower oil to combat the dryness of the kale, and some warming lemon juice and cayenne pepper to help with digestion.  This particular recipe is by far my favorite and most widely used in the world of kale chips.  In fact, I consider this more of a treat than a healthy snack, although they are definitely both!
