Will this tonic aggravate vata dosha for those 50/50 vata/pitta constitutions? Thank YOU!
Hi S,
Thank you for your question!
This Pitta Tonic is fairly balanced and should be suitable for a Vata-Pitta type, especially in the warmer months. If you find it a bit too cooling in the fall or winter, you can replace the maple syrup with honey if you prefer.
Be well and enJOY:)
Namaste,
Danielle
I was having aloe Vera juice from Trader Joes but stopped since breastfeeding. My child is 16 months but is still feeding at night, she is still very attached. Would the amount of aloe Vera in this recipe mess with my milk supply? Have been getting rashes, my gut has felt inflamed and have had a short fuse quite a bit. Also a mom of three so feel quite exhausted and burnt out. It is warming up here in Omaha, Nebraska so not sure if I should be leaning more to calming down my pitta dosha side over my vata side? I know it is kapha season but I just feel hot a lot. I also am attached to not very healthy things like coffee, I have one 1 Tablespoon of whole grounds now but I can still definitely feel the irritation.
Hi Ruth,
Thank you for your question. It is generally not recommended to drink aloe while breastfeeding, as it may lead to diarrhea or an upset stomach for your baby. It is a small amount, however, so it will likely not have a major negative effect on your little one, especially since they are a bit older and only consuming breastmilk at night. Of course, if you notice loose stools or colic after feedings, then you should avoid the aloe until you are no longer breastfeeding.
If you want to play it safe, there are many Pitta-soothing herbs and remedies that are safe while breastfeeding. You can try a simple fennel and coriander tea, our COOL DOWN Tea, or our Sweet Fennel Tea recipe. Shatavari and licorice are very Pitta-soothing and beneficial for breastmilk production as well. Our Rasayana Ghrita (rejuvenation ghee) can be very supportive postpartum, too!
From what you have mentioned, I would definitely focus on soothing Pitta, while also nourishing your Vata and Ojas.
Let me know if you have any further questions!
Take it slow and be well:)
Namaste,
Danielle
