In this latest article, I am excited to share one of my favorite home remedies for the skin. This face mask is made from Triphala Churna mixed in coconut oil, but don’t let the simplicity fool you. This mask is slightly exfoliating, mildly cleansing, and powerfully radiating! The Triphala contains high levels of antioxidants, giving you an anti-aging boost while simultaneously helping to clear the skin. The coconut oil is a nice compliment as the Triphala can be too drying on its own. Using these two ingredients combined gives you a balanced facial treatment in a simple and quick home remedy.
Health Benefits Of The Triphala Face Mask
- Powerful exfoliation
- Removes dead skin cells and opens pores
- Strong antioxidant and Vitamin C content
- Rejuvenates the skin on a cellular level
- Anti-aging
- Clears blemishes
- Hydrates and softens skin
- Creates a more youthful, glowing complexion
Triphala Face Mask
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Triphala Churna
- 3 tablespoons coconut oil or Tikta Ghrita
Instructions
- Melt the Tikta Ghita or coconut oil in a small pan.
- Add the Triphala and stir into a soupy paste, making sure the herbs are mixed thoroughly into the oil.
- Place the mixture in a small airtight jar.
- Take a small amount of the paste and rub a thin layer onto clean facial skin. Make sure to take the time to really massage it onto the skin. This will increase circulation and maximize exfoliation.
- Keep the paste on for at least 15 minutes and then rinse off with warm water (do not use soap!).
- I often apply this treatment directly before my shower, as the hot steam will help to open the pores and increase the benefits.
- Do this procedure at least 3 days a week or as often as needed to rejuvenate dull, aging skin and clear up blemishes.
- This mixture can be kept in a dark, cool place at room temperature. For longer storage, it may be best to keep it in the refrigerator, although it will have to be “thawed” in order to apply.
*For best result, take a 1/2 teaspoon of Triphala Churna or Triphala Ghrita each night before bed, to cleanse and rejuvenate the skin from the inside out!

Is it necessary to heat the ingredients? Does heating it make it more effective?or can I just mix them cold?
Hi Faeemi,
Thank you for your question! The melting of the ghee or oil is mainly just to make it blend with the triphala powder more evenly. I prefer this method, but if you prefer to blend them cold, this will not effect the efficiency of the mask. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

can i use thriphala Churna + coconut oil with besan and honey for face mask
Hi there,
Thank you for your question! You are welcome to try this blend out as there will not be any contraindications. The besan flour and honey are best for oily skin however, as they can be drying. The Triphala itself is a bit drying due to its astringent quality, so if you already have dry skin, this may not be the best blend.
You can always try it out and see the results. Feel free to share, as others may want to try this as well:)

How much time it takes to work?
Hi Sp,
Thank you for writing in! Your skin should begin to feel more soft, even with the first use. For more in depth treatment however, this should be done routinely, 1 to 3 times each week. With this you should have very noticeable and positive results within the first month.
I hope you enjoy!

Triphala amrita is tonic or face mask?
Hi Akbar,
Thank you for your question. Our Triphala Amrita is mainly used as a tonic and taken internally. However, it can definitely be applied on the face as a rejuvenating face mask. It is $27 per jar.
Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Hi! Thank you so much for your work and your kindness in sharing your knowledge. I have a question, do you think if it is possible to do the face mask with sesame oil instead of coconut oil. This is because I have very dry skin, so I was wondering… Thank you for your reply.
Hi Monica,
Thank you for writing in with your question! Yes, if you have drier skin, coconut oil may be too drying for you. You can then use sesame oil as a substitute; however, if you are sensitive to heat, a more cooling oil such as ghee, sunflower oil, olive oil, or avocado oil may be better. You can always play around a bit until you find the perfect blend for yourself!
Feel free to write back if any more questions come up!
EnJOY!!

Can i use triphala and milk to make a paste and apply on my face and i have dry skin..
Hi Susan,
Thank you for your question! You are welcome to try making a paste using milk, but only add a small amount or it may become too runny. I would more so suggest using ghee, sesame oil, almond oil, avocado oil, or olive oil for dry skin.
Let us know how it turns out!

hello, may i heat it with coconut milk instead of oil?
Hi Lilly Rose,
Thank you for your question! Yes, you are welcome to try using coconut milk to replace the coconut oil in this recipe. However, I would suggest using an organic coconut milk that does not contain any other ingredients. Many coconut milk options have thickeners, stabilizers, and preservatives, so if this is the case, I would not recommend using it.
Feel free to write back and let us know how it goes! I would love to hear:)

Hi.. I have extremely dry skin.. Shall I use ghee instead of coconut oil..
And one more doubt is it work for dark circle…
Hi Sundariahilan,
Thank you for your question! Yes, you can use ghee to replace the coconut oil if this recipe is too drying for you. For the dark circles however, you may want to use castor oil rather than either of these.
Let me know if any more questions come up. EnJOY!
Many blessings,
Danielle
